We held an event of Nihongo Hiroba "Disaster Preparedness Training HUG" at Eastpia Miyako, on Nov. 1st, 2020.
The training was aimed at having an experience of operating an evacuation shelter, at enhancing the awareness of disaster prevention, and at giving the participants a chance to think about how to improve the quality of life at evacuation shelters through "HUG" (hinanjo unei game: evacuation shelter operation game).
We used the second floor of Civic Center as a simulated evacuation shelter, and worked on HUG in groups. At the end of the training, a various onions were expressed ("it is important to know that what's obvious to you isn't always obvious to others", "it is necessary to be considerate of LGBTQ", etc.).
