Certified foreign tourist information centers are the institutions certified by Japan National Tourism Organization to have satisfied the conditions as to giving information to foreign tourists.
There are 4 divisions: partner institutions, category I, II, and III. The highest category is III.
Category II institutions should have a permanently-stationed staff(s) who can serve foreign tourists at least in English, and give information of wide area in which the institution is located.
Miyako Tourist Center was the third in Iwate Prefecture and the first in the Iwate coastal area which was certified as category II.
We would like to give information and spread the charm of Miyako and the wide area to foreign tourists visiting Miyako.
