"2nd Strategic Seminar to Increase the Number of Foreign Tourists to Miyako" was held on December 21, 2017.
As reported in newspapers, a luxuary cruise ship "Star Legend" will call at Miyako in 2018, and a mega-sized cruise ship "Diamond Princess" will call at Miyako in 2018. It is expected that the number of foreign visitors to Miyako will increase significantly.
The lecturer, Mr. Hidenori Sugawara from Tohoku Economic Federation, told us about the situation when a huge cruise ship called at Sendai, and participants were listening to his interesting story attentively.
Mr. Takehara from the Tourism and Port Division of Miyako City Office explained the current situation of port calls of foreign cruise vessels and tasks to be solved
The lecture by Mr. Sugawara of Tohoku Economic Federation gave us a lot of hints as to what Miyako City has to do to deal with the port calls of foreign vessels
A workshop was held after the seminar, and the participants exchanged ideas about what Miyako City needs to do to cope with the increase of port calls.
About 100 people took part in the seminar
