Event Information

The lecture by Archbishop Ara Ryokan of was held on August 4th at Rikuchu Building. He was the first pioneer in spreading Tendai Buddhist teachings in Hawaii. The lecture was entitled as "Say, what should I say "To live!"... learn from the lives of Japanese immigrants in Hawaii".
This lecture was co-hosted by Miyako Japan-China Friendship Association and Miyako International Association, and was implemented by the passion of Dr. Yasufumi Goto, who is the chairman of these two associations.

About 250 people came to the lecture. There was an enthusiastic audience who had waited for several hours before the lecture started.

Archbishop Ara Ryokan, who lives in Hawaii, USA, has visited Miyako many times and held some lectures.
During this lecture, he talked about the history of Japanese immigrants and Japanese soldiers who served in the Second World War, and the audience was listening attentively to his valuable talk.
