We held workshops (consisting of 4 workshops) to improve multilingual displays in Miyako City, from Oct. 8th to 29th, 2020, at Eastpia Miyako.
The workshops were aimed at improving the convenience for foreign travelers visiting Miyako, at attracting more foreign tourists, and at improving the service quality for the passengers and crew members during the port calls of cuise ships.
The participants discussed how the multilingual displays should be through group works. When they discussed the multilingual menus for restaurants, a various opinions were expressed ("the languages needed for the menus are Japanese and English", "it would be better if the menus were written also in Chinese, but it's not indispensable", "pictures and pictograms of ingredients should be added", etc.).
